"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
~ Francis of Assisi Read

Borderland: territory at or near a border, fringe, a vague or intermediate state or region.

Words too true when it comes to the area of space between Primary Federation worlds and the Klingon border has been known as the Borderlands. Whilst the area is dotted with Federation worlds, it is the other worlds which make the majority of the area that define its status. Neutrality or non aligned to any party. The price of individuality and non conformity lead to an area considered almost primitive in Federation eyes. Worlds driven to famine via drugs and crime…worlds ruled from above by decadent Orion Syndicate overlords…neutral system with corrupt governments and self governed military’s…and of course the frontier worlds…

In the past two-hundred years Starfleet has had trouble creating order within the region, much less a sense of peace. With the recent changes in the command echelons, those in overall charge of the region started looking outside the box as they saw the rising need to attempt yet again to bring a semblance of order and stability to the Borderlands and another pair of eyes to the Klingon border. It was time to let a cowboy deal with cowboys.

Jack Lashmore a native of a former Orion Syndicate run world Driaan V, now a member of the United Federation Of Planets, is reactivated out of retirement to take on this daunting task.

The USS Southern Cross will be charged with patrolling the borderland and the nearby Klingon Border…a volatile position…between pirates and a warrior culture at civil war…

Equally the Commanding Officer is happy to deal with any and all inquiries.

After the events within the Hromi Cluster, the USS Southern Cross has changed course towards the Ashland system. According to data recovered by the Klingon Qen'aq, it is a likely target for house Q'ras of the Sovereignty of Kahless - a house of a newly formed rogue faction within the Klingon Star Empire.

The Ashland system lies within the Borderlands between Klingon and Federation space and is an independent system of which only one world is habitable, Ashland. The inhabitants are mostly Human whilst there are a few Orions and Yridians. It is a friendly community driven farming world mostly backwards in some of their practices with a primarily 19th century earth approach to their lifestyle with only the bare necessities in more modern-technology in order to broker their trades on the open market; a singular out-dated dilithium processing station, minimal antiquated satellite defence system and a singular old weather control station - all lacking in maintenance.

From the Ashland system it is hoped the USS Southern Cross can attain more intelligence aswell as possibly thwart any attempts to invade the system.

Here are the guidelines that each player serveing aboard the USS Southern Cross is expected to follow.

* The most important rule of all, have fun. This is a game, and we are all here to have fun.

* Each player is expected to produce one (1) post/joint post per week to an average of four (4) posts per month, unless otherwise mandated by the Command staff.

* A post should contain at minimum: a) a solo post: 400 words b) joint post: a minimum of 800 words.

* Personal Logs are encouraged - they should be written in a manner that is presented in the cannon series.
Personal Logs are not posts, but monologues accompanied by background sounds. These do count towards the post requirements if they fill the minimum requirements of a solo post. If they are under that minimal requirement, they count towards character development.

* Character development and use of NPCs to fill in the environment and background story are encouraged - as action oriented as the sim is, it is in the end as it always is, about the characters.

* If in doubt of what to write, please contact the Command Staff, that is what they are there for, to help the players be comfortable and fit into the sim as best they can.

* Developing personal storylines and backgrounds is encouraged.

* All players can submit mission ideas to the Command Staff, and they will do their best to incorporate it into the existing storyline if the submission is accepted. Personal storylines that affect the sim/storyline or other players must be approved by the Command Staff before they are posted.

* Missions are started and ended by Commanding or Executive Officer only.

* In the event there are issues/critiques/similar with a specific player, the matter should be brought to the Commanding/Executive Officer.

» More Skin Choices!

Greetings crew of the USS Southern Cross

To further cater towards the tastes of the crew the Command Team have uploaded two additional skin choices to the simulation.

To change which skin you see, login to the website and enter your control panel. Within the side-bar near the bottom you should see a sub-section titled user, there you should fine Site Option's and be able to change the multiple skin section tabs.

The Iona skin has been changed to have a Ronin class image rather than Sovereign. - I admit this one kinda look cool with the Ronin-class image added.

The Beta skin is a very plain yet functional black and white skin from early NOVA development - for those who prefer less flash.

The default site skin already set is ulyssespadded which is a modification of both titan and sunny skins merged together.

Enjoy the new skins!

Welcome all to the Southern Cross!

Thank you all for joining us on our first steps into the Borderlands! Also a big thank-you to my Executive Officer for filling in with conversations when I was unavailable.

The USS Southern Cross is currently set on the 31st august onward appropriately. The vessels is docked at a large civilian made space-station above Driaan V. Driaan V was always a rich and prosperous system but only recently was freed from Orion Syndicate Rule. Returning to ways of its original Government prior to Syndicate influence the system joined the United Federation Planets less than a week ago.

The Southern Cross has only been docked at Driaan Station for a few days, waiting for crew arrivals.

This is where we all come in - Get onboard, get settled in - see the Doctor for a physical whilst you're at it!

The ship will soon officially receive its marching orders as well as a message for its captain, until then the aim is to get familiar with each-other and your ship. If I have not already, I will shortly begin a joint-post with you.

Although the Southern Cross as a vessel was only finished at the shipyards three months prior game date, the Ronin Class prototype refit is what the Southern Cross mimics.

Once again, welcome aboard! It is a great pleasure to have you all onboard.

Hello everyone,

The XO and I are pleased to welcome you all aboard the USS Southern Cross. We want to thank you all for your applications, and we hope you will have fun with us on our journey along the Borderland and the Klingon border.

Now, whilst I am finishing CO School, you are all welcome to post your characters getting your assignment to the Southern Cross and making your way aboard. The ship is currently docked at the Driaan V Space Station (in orbit of Driaan V - sector next to Rigel Sector, the proverbial mouth of the Borderlands).

The current player compliment is 6 which means we are officially active (with the arrival of Senor Cordova), though there are 7 characters listed as player characters. This is because we do allow our members to create a secondary pc character and up to 4 npc characters. (A second primary PC will require Command Team authorisation, these will be given out sparingly in desire to have more players to interact with)

So, so far we have as player characters:

CO: Jack Lashmore
XO: Alexander Night
COS: Ismael Cordova
ACOS: Grim'lar
CEO: Rodney Miller
CSO: Asami Inoue
CMO: Torrna Maliya (secondary character by Night's player)

We would like to direct those who haven't done it yet to create their character on bravofleet.com -> my account (aka the Bravo Fleet Management System) and select the USS Southern Cross in the current service box so that your character may be added to the ship page on the bravofleet.com sim list. That way you can have an overview of your characters, you can nominate awards, see your own awards, create sim proposals if you will ever desire to have a sim of your own and many other goodies.

As for the Southern Cross OOC communication and fun we use the discord programme, where we have our own server - click on this link to get there :) https://discord.gg/8YXDxY5

Discord can be used easily as an app on phone or PC, or via internet browser also on both PC and phone.

As a Command Team, our door is always open to our crew, so feel free to talk to us bring us your mission, side mission and character plotline ideas and we will see if we can incorporate them into the missions we have envisioned. We may not be able to fit them in immediately, but rest assured your ideas will not be forgotten and will be included at the earliest possible opportunity. :) Our goal is to make this fun and enjoyable for everyone, but we will also need your participation and help to accomplish it, since this IS a group project.

Anyway, without further ado; "Let's see what's out there!"
